Nettrekker Reflection #7

I just attended a meeting at my elementary school regarding nettrekker. It's a new search engine for teachers and students. It's a paid web site, but it is simply amazing! The website has GLE/EALR specifications for each lesson plan. A teacher can create a folder that has lesson plans that can be shared with other teachers if they create a password. There is a read aloud function so students can have websites read to them. There is also a dictionary link so students can look up any words. Each website has a grade level attached to it. It's a little complicated at first because there is so much information, but after attending the class for several hours I feel more than competent enough to use it in my own classroom.

There was so much information that I felt a little overwhelmed. Another technology device we used was active board. It was similar to the SMART board, but a little different. I actually liked it better, but it was harder to learn. We broke off into teams and created a lesson. This was fun, but a little confusing since it was completely new to me.

Overall I am glad that I did this. I learned so much and in the process gained access to Nettrekker for future use. I hope to teach my tech and ed some of the stuff that I learned. I think this website is essential for teachers and the LWSD has bought it for all of it's teachers.
