Classroom Reflection #3

I noticed in class today that the 3rd grade students get so tired right before P.E., or music. I think that it's because they sit for two hours without any activity. I think it would be fun if the students could get a physical activity in during the two hour lesson. One of the students has to sit in the back because he can't still for longer than 10 minutes. I bet that if students got more activity in they would focus more clearly.

SMART Board

I like the idea behind the SMART board, but I would never invest in one. There are too many glitches. I am sure that in five years they will come out with a better and more technologically advanced SMART board. I would rather project my laptop on the screen. There may be no problems with classroom management so far, but once kids become more familiar they will get bored. The SMART board lessons that I came across were very basic.

Classroom Reflection #2

When I was in elementary schools I remember the "latest" technology. We had projectors and Apple computers which only had images in a lime green color. In my 3rd grade classroom today I looked at all the newer technologies of the classroom. There were page projectors, five computers in the back, electric pencil sharpeners, and a calculator in every child's desk. From this class I know that there is better and more useful technology out there, but it is too expensive for every class to have it. My cooperating teacher is amazing with what she can do with the technology that she is given. It's not important what a classroom has, but it is important that a teacher knows how to use it effectively.

Response to "Flexible, Appropriate and Fun"

I think that a SMART board in every classroom could dramatically change teaching and the classroom experience. Younger elementary school students would most likely love to be involved with the learning that comes from the SMART board. They could interact in a way that most people couldn't imagine unless exposed to the SMART board. If only the cost of this technology wasn't so high.

I personally would love to own a SMART board because learning could be done on a totally different level. So much could be done with the latest technology that it is mind boggling. Children could interact and learning could be fun.
