My School's Website

At 6:30 this morning I had to do a quick search on my school's website to see what time school started. It was easy to get around. There were links to the teachers' e-mail addresses with their grades listed. Some of the classrooms had their own website, which I found very helpful. Recess and lunch times were also displayed. Overall, the website did it's job. It wasn't flashy, or too sophisticated, but was easy to get around.

Comments on "Engage Me or Enrage me" What Today's Learners Demand, by Marc Prensky

Today's students are technologically advanced. They live in a society where cellphones, I-pods, and computers are a necessity. They are constantly entertained, so why should school be any different? I think it's great when teachers use modern technology in the classroom. If the only things that grabs students' attention are video games and computers, then why can't they be used more in the classroom? School should be exciting. Teachers should adapt to the students, otherwise nothing will be accomplished. Students will become bored and restless just listening to lectures.

This article was very insightful. I hope that every teacher gets a chance to read it. The truth of the matter is, most teachers grew up without all the modern technology. This doesn't mean that technology is "wrong", or that the children are not learning when they do use it. It just means that they learn differently. And different learners need different teachers.

My Family

I have been blessed with a great family. My husband works at Eddie Bauer Corporate and is an amateur photographer.

I have a very active 4 year old son who likes cars and is starting his photography career early!!!

Why I want to become a teacher?

The obvious reason is that I love children. When a person really gets to know me they will learn that I want to teach because I have a passion for the children who are neglected by the educational system. I am drawn to the inner city because statistically those schools are the ones in most need of a passionate teacher. I have decided to become a teacher because I want to use my compassion and intellect to change at least one child's life. I believe that all children deserve the very best education whether or not they can afford private school.
